The day after he won I decided right then that I will escape, just settle in to rest and decompress through the end of the year. I am still peeking at the news, but am being very non-reactive - minus petition signing and contacting my representatives at times - so I don't burn all my energy now, and will hopefully feel ready for Jan. 21, 2025.
It's like I needed to give myself permission, because otherwise I feel guilty if I'm not responding or reacting to the horrors outside.
I like this and I think that's an excellent plan. I've also been thinking about what it means to be completely engaged in all of it all the time whenever the Administration does come into power. It was exhausting paying attention all the time before, so where can I find that balance while we're seeing the horrors unfold? Lots of thoughts! I'm glad you're finding a way forward with this as well.
I've been burying myself in things that might now need even more help. I am doing more volunteer work and mutual aid, while trying to combat the news.
