Y’all, I just realized that this month is my Substack-aversary! And oh what a year it has been. Back in 2022, I started out with subscribers that were mostly friends and family. Since then subscriber-ship has reached well over 1,000.
Some other exciting happenings in the world of the Cramming Substack is that I started recording a more regular podcast series and capacity-building content through the Ten Weeks to Preparedness series I did with my friend
!And I’m not stopping there. The next iteration of the podcast and a new series on radical imagination will be coming in the next few months after I get some big deadlines behind me.
For now, I’m going to celebrate another amazing year with you all in this community. And to celebrate, here are some of the most popular posts from the last year!
Thanks for making this Substack such a joyful and fun place for me and for supporting this work!
How To Start A Babysitting Co-op

But I didn’t want this journal to turn into what those had become–a combinatio…
My Commune-Living Dreams
My husband and I have an addiction to Grand Designs. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s a British architecture and design show that’s been on since 1999 (!) that follows ordinary people who are building their own house (or hiring folks to do it), most often from the ground up, or sometimes “renovating” old ruins of historic buildings. Every single episode is ho…
"We're Only Doing Optimism"
On Sunday, I emerged from a long weekend in the woods. It was our annual camping trip with our best travel buds where we sat by and played in a pristine lake, paddled on mirror-still waters with views of the top of Mt. Hood peeking above the trees across the lake, watched our kids chop the living hell out of a fallen and dead tree, and we very much did …
