While I agree with you assessment on the terrorism charges, clearly leaving out that he shot at and hit one the officers prior to getting killed, is very inconsistent with the allegation of "murder":

"Tortuguita was shot and killed by police while defending one of Atlanta’s important green spaces, the South River Forest/the Weelaunee Forest, the Muscogee (Creek) name for the land."

and

"it wasn’t until Tortuguita’s murder..."

I'm a bleeding heart liberal who has issues with police use of force, but I find it hard to believe they somehow shot themselves in the abdomen with his gun to justify a killing. No "body cam footage" on a clearing operation? I call BS. You can clearly see them wearing them here: https://apnews.com/article/georgia-atlanta-5a101c06c8a3e6faf970b125e627fcb7

My point is, until proven otherwise, its not "murder."

Perhaps "murder" isn't the best wording, but I think you're focusing on the wrong thing in the story (although I'll say I'm always suspicious of the truth of police reports--see Tyre Nichols' death). Copy City wasn't in the national spotlight until Tortuguita's death which was the point. This happened during a series of other sweeps that used questionable tactics and contributed to trumped up charges for many of the other forest defenders. Nonetheless, this story is not about Tortuguita's death, rather it was an event that sparked a discussion about how police violence is used against protestors including climate protestors. It's about how authoritarian tactics are being used to undermine climate movements.

I totally get the point of the article, don’t get me wrong, I’m a planner and GW believer… I get it.
