Next Week! Virtual Course to "Get Your Go Bag Together"
A sliding-scale collaboration with MakeWith Hardware & Learning Center.
Next week is the Great ShakeOut! It’s a day to participate in earthquake drills to get ready for the disasters to come. We’re “celebrating” this day with our own way to prepare—and not just for earthquakes—to encourage you all to Get Your Go Bag Together on Thursday, October 16th from 5-7pm Pacific Time.
There are still spots and let this be your impetus to sign up and join us!
We are offering sliding scale pricing (true cost of the event is $65, but you can pay as low as $25). Read on for more details about the course.
Go Bag Bundles
Additionally, we are offering add-ons (even if you don’t participate in the event) with Go-Bag Bundles! (Paid subscribers receive a special discount—you should have received an email with that code, if you are a paid subscriber and can’t find that email, message me and I’ll send it to you).
Here’s an overview of the bundles:
Tier 1—The Basics ($15): A very basic starter with 1 poncho, 1 mylar blanket, and 10 purification tablets. Any additional set of “The Basics” bundle is discounted at $10.
Tier 2—Leveling Up ($80): This includes the Petzl Noctilight (a two-in-one headlamp + lantern), Adventure First Aid Kit (0.5 basic kit--available for upgrade to 1.0 or 2.0 kits), SOL Slim Rescue Howler Whistle, and a Midland ER50 portable emergency weather alert crank radio.
Tier 3—The Real Deal ($80): This includes: Lifestraw Peak Series Collapsible Squeeze 650ml Water Bottle + Filter and Blavor Solar Charger Powerbank.
All-in-One Bundle ($160): Get all three bundles at a discount
Upgrades: Add an additional “The Basics” bundle to any of the tiers for just $10; and upgrade to a 1.0 or 2.0 first aid kit for Tier 2 for $10 and $20 respectively.
Note: These are pre-orders only. These bundles will not be shipped out immediately upon your order. Please place your order by Sunday, October 19. Orders will be shipped in mid- to late-November. You will receive an email with a tracking number when they have been shipped.
Additionally, these bundles are only meant to get your go-bag started and are composed of the items that tend to be the ones for which you have to do the most research. You will want to use a go-bag list (such as the one linked to and discussed in this episode), but also we’ll go over in our course next Thursday.
About the Workshop
Do you have a go bag ready in case you need to leave in a hurry?
Go bags are easy to carry survival kits that contain everything you’ll need to get by for a few days in the event of emergencies and evacuations. Whether you’re brand new to the idea of go bags or have been putting off assembling one for months, this workshop will help you get prepared.
During our time together, we’ll go over different go bag scenarios, what to include in your go bag and where to source supplies. Participants will go home with a digital checklist to help you complete the process after the workshop has ended.
Participants will have the option to purchase and have emergency supplies shipped to you to help you fill your go bag before the workshop - please look out for an email after you've signed up.
