FUTURIST BOOK CLUB: "Generation Dread"
Hello Friends,
Per my original post about the book club weeks ago, I had intended to be more on top of it. The original intent was this: we’d have a book we’d all read together and discuss in the comments and then I’d also sprinkle in some posts about other past books now and then.
Well, as with anything that involves predominantly one-way communication, this isn’t exactly how it has gone. Also, I got distracted and didn’t even get into the schedule I laid out in the original post.
Nonetheless, I’m going to keep this book club thing up even if it continues to be a one-way communication. I do still encourage you all to chime in with your thoughts and recommendations. I’ve received many texts from friends who are reading the books along with me (specifically The Ministry for the Future)—you know who you are :). I love those texts. But I also know others would want to hear what you have to say as well. I very much encourage you to post your reflections in the comments because it really is so much more fun to have an engaged somewhat two-way conversation.
That said, moving forward, I’ll post a new book that we can all read “together.” I’ll post my own reflection on that book a few weeks later just to give some folks some time to have their own reflections as well. And maybe some of you will comment on your reflections as well, but also maybe not.
I do still intend to sprinkle in some reflections from past book club books as well, but not going to promise any timing.
With that, here is our next FUTURIST BOOK CLUB book: Generation Dread: Finding Purpose in an Age of Climate Crisis by Britt Wray. We’re going non-fiction this time around and I’m so curious what folks’ reflections will be.
Happy reading!
